The G0 (quiescent phase) is a stage during which the cell cycle is arrested for an indefinite period. The terminally differentiated somatic cells such as the neurons and striated muscle cells that no longer divide, are arrested in the Gap1 (G1) phase. Such a type of G1 phase is called as G0 or Quiescent phase of the cell cycle.
