The somatic embryos which are produced as result of the invitro methods are encapsulated in a gel. The gel contains the nutrients and some additives these seeds are designated as the synthetic seeds or artificial seeds. The seeds are encapsulated with the gel such as the calcium alginate. This encapsulation helps the seeds to resist under the unfavourable condition without dessication. The somatic embryos can give rise to the plants under laboratory condition. They are true seeds which can be sown in the green house.
