Thiamine is also known as Vitamin B1 or anti-beriberi substance, Aneurin anti-neuritic factor, Thiamine Pyrophosphate (TPP), Diphosphosphothiamine (DPT).

  1. Thiamine was the first member of vitamin B group to be identified and hence given the name vitamin B.
  2. It is commonly known as anti-beriberi factor and Anti-neuritic or heat labile factor and is generally associated with carbohydrate metabolism.
